Willie Revillame suspended again?
Willie Revillame has made headlines again as a result of a statement he made during a live Wowowee telecast where he asked the live feed of Former President Corazon Aquino’s cortege be removed from screen. Was it inappropriate? Did he violate any law?
Majority of Filipinos will definitely say his statement was not appropriate and a show of disrespect to a former President who was well loved by her people. A violation of the law will also be a big blow to his stardom. His statement was a huge disappointment to his fans who look up to him not only as an entertainer but as a role model.
According to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KPB), Willie violated Section 3C of Presidential Decree 1986 which goes to show that he has to deal again with the law. It’s a never ending legal battle in the life of this favorite noontime entertainer. What a mess!
While Willie’s statement can be considered not a reflection of good values and can be considered injurious to the State and its people, he deserves a fair hearing on the issue.
However, how many times had he been suspended since he joined the entertainment world? Once, twice, thrice? Willie has been idolized by Filipinos around the globe, but perhaps it’s high time for ABS CBN to reconsider other business options to keep its loyal viewers.
