Susan Boyle loses final British talent show
Susan Boyle, the 48-year-old unemployed church volunteer from Scotland who became an internet phenomenon and global celebrity, was beaten by a group of young street dancers in the final British talent show, “Britain’s Got Talent.”
The winner won 100,000 pounds or approximately $160,000 and the right to take the stage at the Royal Variety Performance in front of Britain’s Queen.
Boyle rose to stardom over the past two months after a video footage of her audition piece for the show was posted on YouTube. Her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Meserables” was downloaded on the internet more than 150 million times making her a household name.
