MMFF’s 1st Day Top Grosser

“Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat,” Star Cinema’s entry to this year’s Manila Manila Film Festival (MMFF), leads in the first day earnings, according to a box-office report. Running on its second place is the movie Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After.

Ang Taning Ina N’yong Lahat is the sequel to the No. 1 all the time box-office hit “Ang Taning Ina” in 2003 played by no less than the comedien Ai Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo under the direction of Wenn de Ramas for Star Cinema.

Iskul Bukol, however, is an adaptation of Tito, Vic and Joey’s role in their hit TV sitcom 20 years ago. It is directed by Tony Reyes and stars Bong Revilla, Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Sharon Cuneta.

The Metro Manila Film Festival runs from December 25, 2008 through January 7, 2009 in all theaters nationwide. Awards night is slated to take place on the 27th of December 2008.

Moreover, two entries were awarded the highest grade of “A” for excellence in filmmaking from the Cinema Evaluation Board. The two movie awardees are “Baler” and “Magkaibigan.” These movies will be exempt from paying amusement tax to the government for garnering the award.
