Manny Pacquiao not fighting Ricky Hatton unless revenue share move in his favor
It’s definite, Manny Pacquiao is not fighting Ricky Hatton. This was confirmed last Friday by Manny’s adviser Rex “Wakee” Salud who said that Manny is “not fighting Hatton unless the revenue sharing tilts to his favor.”
There is no deal yet contrary to reports that the May 2 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas will push through. “Manny’s stand is the same; he is not fighting unless the numbers move to his favor,” according to Salud.
Manny Pacquiao demands a 60 percent share of the fight and the pay-per-view purses. The share however does not sit well with Hatton’s camp, which claimed that a verbal agreement of 50-50 split had already been made.
However, there were conflicting statements between Manny’s adviser and Bob Arum, who claimed Wednesday that the fight is back on track after Pacquiao was promised half of the PPV revenue in Britain. Hatton is said to have a huge following in Britain.
Arum said that Pacquiao could earn more than the $10 million he got from his last fight with De La Hoya. Arum was quoted as saying that Manny only got 32 percent in the De La Hoya fight. He added that MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas was selected as the venue for the next fight.
“Manny might consider the 55-45 deal,” according to Salud, an idea broached by trainer Freddie Roach, but that “he is still thinking about it.”
