Why Jennylyn Mercado lashes out at the press?
Jennylyn Mercado wanted the baptismal ceremony of his son Jazz sacred, solemn and private but things turned ugly when media people invaded the privacy. Jazz is the singer-actress son to ex-boyfriend actor, Patrick Garcia. The ceremony was held last Saturday, January 24 at the Christ the King Church in Pasig City. Jennylyn was exiting the church when media people clandestinely started taking photos.
Jennylyn broke down in tears and was furious when she saw the media people taking pictures of them. “Hindi ko alam kung paano ninyo nalaman ito. Ayoko ng ganito. Please maawa kayo,” she said while crying.
Very mad and angry, Jennylyn lashes out at the press and asked them to delete the photos taken. Unfortunately, one made it out and left the area immediately. Jennylyn said that the ceremony should have been respected as her son is not a celebrity. But the press was insistent that since she is one, she cannot escape not being followed by media people.
Jennylyn Anne Pineda Mercado also known as Jennylyn Mercado is an actress-singer. She was the winner of the first season of StarStruck, a reality-based talent search show of GMA Network. She started as a recording artist in 1999 with Alpha Records through the recommendation of her voice coach Susanna Pichay. She became part of the singing group G4 of Nonoy Tan. After G4, she went into modeling and landed an endorsing stint with Bambini Cologne and a Ponds television advertisement. She also made it to the elite Circle of 10 modeling search. Prior to StarStruck, Jennylyn appeared in soap operas Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay with Lorna Tolentino, Ang Ibigin Ay Ikaw, and Nagmamahal, Manay Gina, where she appeared three times.
In 2003, she joined StarStruck where she was proclaimed winner bringing in a cash price of 1 million pesos plus exclusive contracts from GMA network. After winning StarStruck, she then appeared in several films including So Happy Together and the teen-flick Let the Love Begin. She also appeared on TV shows like the fantasy soap opera Encantadia, I Luv NY, Now and Forever and Super Twins.
Jennylyn is the former girlfriend of co-StarStruck survivor Mark Herras. Both started dating on 24 April and broke up on September 2005. She started dating Partick Garcia and got pregnant. On August 16, 2008, she gave birth via Caesarian section to a baby boy at St. Lukes Hospital and named the child, Alex Jazz “AJ” Mercado. She is now the spokesperson of a non-government organization, Bata Foundation (Christian Mission Services).
