Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa’s marriage annulled
The Court of Appeals has upheld a lower court’s decision to annul the marriage between actors’ Diether Ocampo and Kristine Hermosa.
The appellate court’s second division said Tuesday, “We cannot but sustain the court a qou in declaring as void ab initio the marriage between the petitioner and respondent which was purportedly solemnized on September 21, 2004 at Jaen, Nueva Ecija. It is a hornbook doctrine that findings of fact of trial courts are entitled to great weight on appeal and should not be disturbed except for a strong and valid reasons.”
It can be recalled that Kristine Hermosa initially filed the annulment of her marriage to Diether Ocampo on June 21, 2005 arguing that a marriage was not given during the marriage ceremony that was solemnized by Mayor Antonio Esquivel last September 21, 2004 in Jaen, Nueve Ecija.
The nine-page decision of the appellate court explained that the 25-year old actress has given the sufficient document and testimonial evidence to prove that a marriage certificate was not issued.
