“The proposed Rizal Park monument to President Cory is a gift in her honor from the Filipino people and the Philippine government, through their elected President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo….The gift was unconditional, and the project will push through,” Deputy Presidential Spokesman for Economic Affairs Gary Olivar said.

“Rizal Park is our main park, the foremost national park.
Here’s one report that had some Filipinos wished for.

“When Mrs. Arroyo’s passing was announced at dawn on Saturday, the whole world paused. Condolences to the family of Mrs. Aquino poured from all over the world–both through official statements sent through embassies, made on TV, or posted online. A staggering number of people have been paying their tributes to Mrs. Aquino online, inundating social networking and blog sites. For a good number of those posting online, it is their first time to witness the passing of a president”.

And here’s another one made WITH UTMOST CARE:

The study which will be published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has an abstract available online.

This medical discovery came in very late. It could have saved the life of Former President Cory Aquino. It is also a huge money saver as aspirin only costs a penny.

The study also showed that patients who initiated aspirin use only after a diagnosis did even better and had half the risk of dying from the cancer.

It can be recalled that her “people power” revolution toppled a dictatorship that inspired millions of people around the world. With her death at 76, many are asking if the Philippines will be able to sustain the democracy she has restored.

History will tell us that Corazon Aquino was widowed in 1983 when her political opposition husband, Benigno S. Aquino Jr., was asassinated upon his return from exile to lead a pro-democracy movement against authoritarian president Ferdinand E. Marcos. She run against Marcos in a “snap election” called by Marcos himself. Marcos won, but his winning was marked by widespread fraud and violence. People gave full support to Aquino led by mutineers Marcos’s former defense minister, Juan Ponce Enrile and Lt. Gen. Fidel V. Ramos, a distant cousin of Marcos serving then as acting armed forces chief of staff. The country’s faithful led by the Catholic primate, Jaime Cardinal Sin, joined calling the faithful into the streets to block any attack on them by Marcos’s forces. Millions responded that gave birth to “people power.”

The 20 something dance intructor who was confronted by Manny himself said that “Nagmamahalan kami ni Dionisia,”

At 60, Nanay Dionisia is so vulnerable and can easily be taken advantage of if not careful of who she is dealing with. Known for being the mother of the boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao, who recently brought home around $12M, excluding share from the Pay-Per-View income after knocking-down British boxer Ricky Hatton, Nanay Dionisia may now be the target of con artists preying around GenSan.

Guarding Nanay Dionisia should be in Manny’s work-to-do list.

Chip, as he is called, now looked so cheap among Filipinos. In an article published on March 27, 2009 entitled, “The War at Home”, he degraded the Filipinos and called the Philippines as a “nation of servants”.

Here is a copy of the full article as published in Hong Kong Online:

“The Russians sank a Hong Kong freighter last month, killing the seven Chinese seamen on board. We can live with that-Lenin and Stalin were once the ideological mentors of all Chinese people. The Japanese planted a flag on Diaoyu Island. That’s no big problem – we Hong Kong Chinese love Japanese cartoons, Hello Kitty, and shopping in Shinjuku, let alone our round-the-clock obsession with karaoke.

But hold on-even the Filipinos? Manila has just claimed sovereignty over the scattered rocks in the South China Sea called the Spratlys Islands, complete with a blatant threat from its congress to send gunboats to the South China Sea to defend the islands from China if necessary. This is beyond reproach. The reason: there are more than 130,000 Filipina maids working as $3,580-a-month cheap labor in Hong Kong. As a nation of servants, you don’t flex your muscles at your master, for whom you earn most of your bread and butter.

As a patriotic Chinese man, the news has made my blood boil. I summoned Louisa, my domestic servant who holds a degree in international politics from the University of Manila, hung a map on the wall, and gave her a harsh lecture. I sternly warned her that if she wants her wages increased next year, she had better tell every one of her compatriots in Statue Square on Sunday that the entirety of the Spratlys Islands belongs to China.

Grimly, I told her that if war breaks out between the Philippines and China, I would have to end her employment and send her straight home, because I would not risk the crime of treason for sponsoring an enemy of the state by paying her to wash my toilet and clean my windows 16 hours a day. With that money, she would pay taxes to her government, and they would fund a navy to invade our motherland and deeply hurt my feelings.

Oh, yes. The government of the Philippines would certainly be wrong if they think we Chinese are prepared to swallow their insult and sit back and lose a Falkland Islands War in the Far East. They may have Barack Obama and the hawkish American military behind them, but we have a hostage in each of our homes in the Mid-levels or higher. Some of my friends told me they have already declared a state of emergency at home. Their maids have been made to shout ‘China, Madam/Sir’ loudly whenever they hear the word ‘Spratly.’ They say the indoctrination is working as wonderfully as when we used to shout, ‘Long live Chairman Mao!’ at the sight of a portrait of our Great Leader during the Cultural Revolution. I’m not sure if that’s going a bit too far, at least for the time being.”
